Guide to Downgrade the iPod touch 2G

Guide to switch back to an older firmware!

can happen sometimes that we need on our ipod touch 2g, to move from one software to a newer older.

Why you ask ... Well the reasons are varied, in order to make a jailbreak that maybe is not on the new firmware, to return to the previous because the new firmware gives us problems ... etc etc..

I make a premise the downgrade, of course contains the formatting of the device.
This involves loss of all data in it.

Obviously the problem is curbed PRE Backup and restore then it happened (the only flaw is that of course applications that run with the firmware following year, maybe they do not run with the previous one, so some may not work) DISCOVERED IN THE GUIDE ALSO DO THIS FOR DETAILS!

Now we turn to practice:

How to downgrade

First of all we make up our applications:
To back up, we connect our iPod to your computer and open iTunes (if it does not open automatically)

Now click on the right sidebar, our device with the right mouse button, select the option from the menu "Backup" as in the image:

Once this is done, expect the terms of the backup process.
When the backup is finished, and then at the top center is the throne the "apple" ->

proceed with the downgrade itself ... then:
Download the firmware version 2.1.1 from here: Mirror 1

or Mirror 2
here and save it to your desktop.

When the download is complete,
enter into DFU mode by following these steps:
Let's go back to iTunes and the iPod still connected to the pc by pressing the button "home" key and "On / Off" for ten seconds ->

ignore the message "turn off" and continue to hold until the end of 10 seconds, then release the "On / Off" but we continue to hold the "home!"

At this point the screen of your iPod should be left black ->

iTunse But we recognized it and we're actually in DFU Mode.

The DFU is a recovery mode different from that in which the word appears in iTunes on your iPod, in fact, this mode allows recovery even in extreme cases!
At this point we're ready to downgrade (or restoration), proceed as follows:

In iTunes, hold down the shift key on the keyboard
, click on "Restore" ->

At this point you open a screen to select the restore file ->

select the file "iPod2, 1_2.1.1_5F138_Restore.ipsw" we have previously downloaded and saved on the desktop and I click "Open."
will now begin the upgrade, and after the ipod will restart with the old (but just put up: P) firmware, iTunes will ask if you configure the iPod as a new terminal or make restore a backup, restore, you can not Asthe software is older, but by selecting "set up as new device" and then clicking on "sync" ->

All applications will be reinstated in our compatible ipod touch, non-compatible with previous firmware, will not be installed or are not bootable from ipod touch.

We thank our user "base" has been instrumental in testing to try to downgrade!
The tests were carried out on the iTunes version 8.0.1.11, but probably should also go on 8.0.2, otherwise let me know.
