Updates

The Dev-Team does not keep its promises and the Chronic Dev was on vacation!

Dear readers, once again we have not all good news ... but now we never used to.
Let's start with the updates:
The iPhone Dev-Team (known just as Dev-Team) was to begin work on the ipod touch 2g jailbreak just found a way to remove the sim lock on the iPhone abroad ... as mentioned in a previous article, doing a great job, we were successful and all are happy ... MA! what just is not good, is that despite having explicitly promised that they would begin working on the jailbreak iTouch 2g with the arrival of the new year, so it was not and so will not be '.

fact in a recent post on their blogs, prospects for the future, it's still only the completion of the release of the iPhone baseband, and there is no mention in any way the iPod touch 2g.
I sent an email to one of its members, to know why not talk about ... and all I received an answer "is not currently in our priorities," it does not deal with it, at least for quite some time.

for this call possesori of the ipod touch 2g to be heard on their blogs, to understand (with the greatest kindness that is) that we are many and that we expect the release of Notre dear ipod! the link to their blog is this:

For those wishing to leave a message.

Now we come to the news but a little more beautiful.
For now we must focus our hopes, once again all the Chronic Dev (unless the Dev-Team does not change your mind).

Speaking just Chronic Dev, a recent post showed that Will.chronicdev was in "vacation" ... rightly as we all are, in fact in the post summing said: "Now the holidays are over, time to return to work at school and so on, then loosen a little hacking of my Apple TV is back to work on the ipod touch 2g jailbreak seriously. "

It is good, as can be seen, was on vacation and then had his Apple TV hacking rather than the ipod ... for charity, nothing to say, everyone needs a holiday ... but we hope you come back really fast-paced work on the jailbreak, because in the few days of the post in question, there were great updates on his personal notes regarding the release of the wiki.

clear, however, important news from the last note, we have confirmation that there will be when the jailbreak, will the firmware 2.2!

This is precisely why working with that, in addition, if there are any problems, thanks to our guide on the downgrade, it will be easier to return to a previous firmware!

Anyway guys, we hope that the Chronic fulfill its promise as opposed to the Dev-Team, and no later than 2 months, give us a jailbreak.

For the moment, will keep their eyes on the work of the Chronic, and I will keep you informed as always!

PS
Am I segunado other small teams who are working to pull out a jailbreak, some are doing a mediocre job ... we'll see.
Regards for now and stay tuned!

Guide to Downgrade the iPod touch 2G

Guide to switch back to an older firmware!

can happen sometimes that we need on our ipod touch 2g, to move from one software to a newer older.

Why you ask ... Well the reasons are varied, in order to make a jailbreak that maybe is not on the new firmware, to return to the previous because the new firmware gives us problems ... etc etc..

I make a premise the downgrade, of course contains the formatting of the device.
This involves loss of all data in it.

Obviously the problem is curbed PRE Backup and restore then it happened (the only flaw is that of course applications that run with the firmware following year, maybe they do not run with the previous one, so some may not work) DISCOVERED IN THE GUIDE ALSO DO THIS FOR DETAILS!

Now we turn to practice:

How to downgrade

First of all we make up our applications:
To back up, we connect our iPod to your computer and open iTunes (if it does not open automatically)

Now click on the right sidebar, our device with the right mouse button, select the option from the menu "Backup" as in the image:

Once this is done, expect the terms of the backup process.
When the backup is finished, and then at the top center is the throne the "apple" ->

proceed with the downgrade itself ... then:
Download the firmware version 2.1.1 from here: Mirror 1

or Mirror 2
here and save it to your desktop.

When the download is complete,
enter into DFU mode by following these steps:
Let's go back to iTunes and the iPod still connected to the pc by pressing the button "home" key and "On / Off" for ten seconds ->

ignore the message "turn off" and continue to hold until the end of 10 seconds, then release the "On / Off" but we continue to hold the "home!"

At this point the screen of your iPod should be left black ->

iTunse But we recognized it and we're actually in DFU Mode.

The DFU is a recovery mode different from that in which the word appears in iTunes on your iPod, in fact, this mode allows recovery even in extreme cases!
At this point we're ready to downgrade (or restoration), proceed as follows:

In iTunes, hold down the shift key on the keyboard
, click on "Restore" ->

At this point you open a screen to select the restore file ->

select the file "iPod2, 1_2.1.1_5F138_Restore.ipsw" we have previously downloaded and saved on the desktop and I click "Open."
will now begin the upgrade, and after the ipod will restart with the old (but just put up: P) firmware, iTunes will ask if you configure the iPod as a new terminal or make restore a backup, restore, you can not Asthe software is older, but by selecting "set up as new device" and then clicking on "sync" ->

All applications will be reinstated in our compatible ipod touch, non-compatible with previous firmware, will not be installed or are not bootable from ipod touch.

We thank our user "base" has been instrumental in testing to try to downgrade!
The tests were carried out on the iTunes version 8.0.1.11, but probably should also go on 8.0.2, otherwise let me know.
any questions or problems you post here, thanks to everyone and good continuation!
