Antenna Impedance Matching

Ubuntu Flybook

I am writing my first tutorial (or pseudo) dedicated to the installation of a linux distro on the Dialogue Flybook.
company apparently difficult, but unfounded simple, made of steps required due to hardware "Martian" and passages of flybook standards expected of all Linux installations.
In fact my first error during installation was to be considered a priori as the Flybook a computer "strange" and difficult, so I gave their hardware fault if things did not work, but often it was because of my being "noob" that things were going.

short, the Flybook is basically a laptop and that is what it is that must be treated, passing the various obstacles that arise with millions of Google searches and reading the How-To "those who have made"

I hope to better explain all the steps, but merely to provide links in case which my explanations were to be a mere scopiazzatura.

Cervix Very High And Soft

Step One: Choosing a distro

Why Ubuntu? Simply because I like, and then I have to admit that attempts with other distributions I've done it all pretty disappointing. A Debian Sarge

recognized the trackpoint on the fly, but it was still a sarge and very stimulating. One was a

Gentoo Gentoo, with all the implications and consequences are typical: it is not I could never see anything graphic, all because of my being a noob, never installed Gentoo in my life, let alone if I could do it for the first time on your Flybook .... forget it! The ubuntu

know her well, very satisfied from Dapper to Edgy.

I decided to Edgy it based strictly on academic and philosophical parameters, first among them the concept of "make or-break", typical of the animal called the computer newbie, or geek, whatever you want.

Rsd Roseta Stone Files

Here I try to be serious: nothing to declare, smooth as oil, provided you have a USB external CD player, in case you had any doubts about installing Ubuntu, refer to the official guide, I am not here dispense pearls of wisdom cloning the authors far more authoritative than me.

I would only point out that those who have bought a Flybook was convinced that it was possible to boot from USB media, but this is not true until it is done by downloading a firmware update for your specific model, available directly from the Dialogue . Simple operation, however, say it is the last thing we want to do with WinzXP

:-) I chose to partition the HD to a partition from 40Gb to 21Gb Winzoz (already existing) a 3Gb for the root and from 7GB to the home, and formatted with reiserfs filesystem from fat32 10Gb Microzoz share with the system, mounted as / media / archive (fancy that boys !!!); all this after you delete the recovery partition to restore unusable once overwritten with the MBR bootloader (such as we have an external CD player we do not run the risk of not being able to restore the HD as mother nature made using the cd provided at time of purchase).
The swap partition was created automatically by the installation process.

Michelle Keegan What's It Gonna Be

Installation Post-Installation Nightmare ...

... or the nightmare of post-installation!
This is the time when the lucky owner of pirlino daughters wonder who did it do to spend much money for a thing which does not turn up anything but Winz! In fact, an analysis

quieter made me realize that the most disturbing effect on the trackpoint was ungovernable, soon solved thanks hack of Napo, now famous in the network:

obviously we connected a USB mouse to Fly perfectly recognized and used to open a terminal and type

echo "options psmouse proto = imps"> / etc / modprobe.d / flybook_joy

with root privileges.

If the thing, for whatever reason does not work, we can create a text file called flybook_joy in / etc / modprobe.d to write the line

options psmouse proto = imps

Reboot the laptop and the trackpoint works like magic!

Respiration Rate Of Reptile Compared To Mammal

A sigh and analysis of the situation

Here we are with something vaguely functioning:
up to half an hour ago I had a desktop classical dancer, a trackpoint and a whole lot 'of wires that came out of the pirlino: CD USB cable, power cable, mouse, power.

Now I removed the CD and the mouse ... not bad!

We see that you can do to eliminate even the network cable.

How To Secure Extension Cord With Knot

Wlan Driver Installation Server

At this point, I invite all readers to avoid difficult installation by downloading drivers from linux-wlan-ng, as suggested by other guides, with recompiling the kernel or anything, really in this case is not needed, because the drivers are in repositoryes of ubuntu, just enable all repos from synaptic and download the linux-wlan-ng

Now "System> Administration> Network" disable the network via ethernet and activate the wlan0.

Open a terminal and of invented root, giving the command sudo gedit

/ etc/init.d/prism2

we are creating the file paste the following code:
  # / bin / sh #

# This script will be Executed * after * all the other init scripts.
# You can put your own initialization stuff in here if you do not
# Want to do the full Sys V style init stuff.

192.168.xx netmask 255.255.255.0 ifconfig eth0 down modprobe
prism2_usb prism2_doreset = 1
wlanctl-ng wlan0 lnxreq_ifstate ifstat = enable
wlanctl lnxreq_autojoin-ng wlan0 ssid = any = authtype OpenSystem
192.168.xx netmask 255.255.255.0 ifconfig wlan0
route add default gw 192.168.xx

At this point I rebooted the machine, tending to connect the wlan at boot (not I still have understand why you are unable to connect to the wireless network card once in graphics mode) by the well-known Pressing the Fn-F8

And the network cable is unplugged!

Blueprint Harman Kardon

now up to the graphics card: I personally have not been able to install the ATI proprietary drivers, so all the talk fglrx jumps, the Flybook is a laptop, but its owner knows that is "just" a laptop and one who has tried to install something that is not branded with the M microzoz knows that it is a laptop "bastard" Then

How To Hide My Tracks With Ubuntu?

Pause ... landscaping

Now I deserve a little break: my solitary neuron is completely melted and decided that I need to connect to www.gnome-look.org to mask the horrible look of default ubuntu (it's a great distro, but I have not met anyone who at least has not changed the desktop background after the first 10 minutes).

short, a little 'this is the result of manipulation, nothing special, but better than it is :-)

Beryl? Nooooo! I can not credereeee!

Ebbenesì, since I had a pseudo graphics acceleration I said "why not try?", "but I still have the touch-screen enabled, nor bluethoot and cosine of the genre, it is early to think of beryl."
But meanwhile the wheels turned and the mere fact of having a graphics acceleration of drove me crazy forward, after all, who ever said the rules for what to do first and what next? Why beryl should be the last step?
Sorry if the photo public, I know you all know what beryl, but I did! :-) I am

course, the Transmeta Crusoe processor is a good process and the radeon driver is not fglrx and not everything that has a nvidia driver, but the so-called "cubazzo" moves! Plan, slowly, but moves. In short, none of that to which most of us are accustomed to seeing on their desktop at home, but is still a great satisfaction!

not think I can hold them at the start at boot, but to be cool with friends is not bad for a little run 'and let it wander.

How Many Electric Cars Sold California

Edition Ubuntu Flybook

The stubborn myself in the installation of Linux on the Flybook not only made me learn more about the Flybook, but helped me learn more about linux, which led me to formulate a more ambitious project ... Ebbenesì, I created an image of a CD to install Ubuntu Edgy optimized for the Flybook and are delighted to be able to announce to the owners of the successful worldwide implementation. Already live in the major features are active (except the touch-screen, but I'm working). I just hope to please all Flybook owners who want to approach for the first time to Linux, the CD image on the internet ready for download will be available every other day, I suggest you visit these pages often to see more continuous updates. The next step is to create a USB key that will avoid the expense of an external CD player .... the adventure continues ......
------------------------------------------------ -------------------------------------------------- --------------- - I can not make him automatically install the xorg.conf file that I inserted in the image: create a new one.
- Installation via wireless network is perfect, just, once inside the newly installed system, disable the ethernet and enable the wlan, but the file Prism2 is in place, then everything works - I must be able to set best desktop icons
